Our Story

Once upon a time in Ithaca.

the shop cafe storefront

The Shop cafe opened its doors in 2009 inspired by the ideals and experience of Jon Proton and Phoebe Aceto. We’ve been growing ever since.

We have been fortunate to receive a strong welcome from the Ithaca community and our mission every day is to give back. One way we do this is by using local vendors as much as possible. We also offer our wall space to a featured local artist every month. And finally, we hope to provide a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere for you to take a break, get some work done or just hang out in.

We know that everything good comes in small batches, so pretty much everything we offer is made with care, one drink at a time.

Our Community

We get by with a little help from our friends.

We love our vendors, each and every single one of them. We couldn’t do it without: Woodburl Coffee, Gimme! Coffee, Counter Culture Coffee, Edgewood Bakery, Eddydale, Byrne Dairy, White Dog Apiary, Regional Access, Divinitea

Customers & Staff

The Shop has grown and thrived through the years with the help of our friendly, knowledgeable and artistic staff. What can we say? Our staff is rad. Between them and our loyal customer base- work remains full of good conversation and great espresso.

Model Citizen Tattoo

Cortados & tattoos, together since 2009. The Shop is stoked to share a venue with Model Citizen Tattoo, run by James Spiers and featuring other talented artists like Shop owner Phoebe Aceto herself. Click here to find out more about these folks.
